crockpot meatballs

Equipment

  • 1 crockpot/slow cooker
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 baking sheet if broiling meatballs
  • 1 spoon or spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until combined.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • If desired, broil the meatballs on a baking sheet for 5 minutes to create a nice crust.
  • Place the meatballs in the crockpot.
  • Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs. Make sure they are well coated.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3 hours.
  • Once cooked, carefully remove the meatballs with a spoon and serve hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

These meatballs can be served on their own, over pasta, in a sub, or as an appetizer with toothpicks.
You can customize the sauce by adding herbs or vegetables according to your preference.
