Equipment

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 skillet or frying pan
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 serving plate

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread White or whole wheat.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter For frying.
  • to taste maple syrup For serving.
  • optional powdered sugar For dusting.

Instructions

  • Cut each slice of bread into bite-sized cubes, approximately 1-inch pieces. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  • Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add the butter, allowing it to melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
  • Dip each bread cube into the egg mixture, making sure to coat them evenly but don't soak them for too long.
  • Place the coated bread cubes in the skillet, making sure not to crowd the pan. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Once cooked, remove the bites from the skillet and set them on a serving plate.
  • Optionally, dust the French Toast Bites with powdered sugar for a sweet touch. Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different types of bread, such as brioche or challah, for even richer flavor.
You can add toppings like fresh berries or whipped cream for an extra twist.
Leftover bites can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days, and can be reheated in a toaster or microwave.
