Ingredients

  • 12 ounces pasta (such as penne or spaghetti)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes (1 can)
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce (1 can)

  • In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent and tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
  • Serve immediately in bowls, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
