  • 1 electric mixer or stand mixer
  • 1 cookie press
  • 1 baking sheets
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • colored sugar or sprinkles optional for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fill the cookie press with the dough, following the manufacturer's instructions. Choose your desired shape for the cookies.
  • Press the cookie shapes onto the lined baking sheets, leaving a little space between each cookie. If desired, sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top for decoration.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Keep an eye on them, as they can bake quickly.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use a high-quality butter, as it will enhance the flavor of the cookies.
You can make these cookies ahead of time and store them in an airtight container for up to one week.
